The restraining order allows Maple Lake Academy\u2019s girls program to stay open while MLA appeals DHHS\u2019s decision<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sofia Soto died at MLA in 2022 after being medically neglected by staff<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKatie England, a spokesperson for DHHS, said licensers did a full investigation, and considered the facility\u2019s 36-month history before making the decision to deny the license application.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maple Lake Academy\u2019s boys program will remain open regardless of what happens to the girls program<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the second attempt to close MLA\u2019s girls program \u2013 the first came shortly after Sofia Soto\u2019s death in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
