Director of JRC Indicted for Destroying Evidence
The founder and executive director of the Judge Rotenberg Educational Center, Dr. Matthew Israel, was indicted on charges of accessory after the fact and misleading investigators after two students received improper electric shock treatments at the Stoughton facility in 2007. The indictment follows allegations that Israel ordered the destruction of video evidence documenting the incident. The Attorney General's Office entered a deferred prosecution agreement requiring the center to appoint an independent monitor to evaluate its policies.
