Facilities in Kansas

Residential facilities providing religious, behavioral, and mental health treatment to children exist in all 50 states. Some of these facilities are known to be part of the Troubled Teen Industry, while others have not yet been verified. Any facility where children live and receive care requires additional oversight. This directory helps communities monitor local programs and advocate for accountability.

Reporting abuse in Kansas

Kansas splits the work usefully: the Department for Children and Families investigates abuse or neglect alleged to have happened in a childcare or residential care facility, and it is required to pass any investigation involving a licensed facility straight to the Department of Health and Environment, which holds the licence. So one call to the Protection Report Center reaches both the investigation and the licensor.

The therapist's licensing board

Holds the individual clinician's licence and can suspend or revoke it.

Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board

Multiple professions

Regulates psychologists, social workers, professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, addiction counselors and behavior analysts, and disciplines their licences. Every complaint gets a case number, and once the Board decides to investigate, the licensee is told what is alleged.

It says plainly that it does not represent individuals and does not obtain compensation on anyone's behalf.
