Ex-Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch worker charged with sexual assault of minors

John Wesley Whiteside, age 26, was charged with multiple counts of sexual abuse involving minors while employed at Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, a residential psychiatric facility for youth. He worked at the facility for about one month in spring 2025. The investigation began when a resident disclosed his alleged behavior to a therapist. Three residents later came forward with additional allegations. Whiteside has pleaded not guilty and is being held on $100,000 bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 29. This marks the second time in 2025 that a Yellowstone staff member has been charged with sexually abusing residents.
